A number of less common and unusual hernias are grouped under the heading of miscellaneous hernias. These include such types as lumbar, flank, obturator and interparietal hernias. Each have their own characteristic symptom complex and are often overlooked by the average physician because of their infrequent presentation.
As with the more common hernias, all of them have the potential to cause bowel obstruction and strangulation and so must be dealt with upon diagnosis.
As a result of our extensive experience with hernias, we often diagnose these unusual variants when others have simply failed to recognize them.
If you have unusual symptoms that may be caused by one of these unusual hernias, contact the Hernia Center of Ohio to arrange for an expert evaluation.
