Dear Dr. Grischkan:
Thank you for a job well done on my recent hernia repair. It is not often someone does what they say they will do. You did.
I had no real pain or discomfort after the operation and I had no need to take any of the prescribed medication. I was in Hillcrest at 9 a.m. and back home at 2:30 p.m. I experienced no twitching, no black and blue bruising and only mild swelling at the incision. I felt well enough to return to work the next day; had it not been Saturday, I would have. Before the procedure I had related pain in my hips and side. Those pains went away immediately after surgery. I was able to return to normal activities the second day after surgery just like you said I would. I am even more amazed at my recovery considering what you described as a “very large” repair.
I was also extremely impressed with your staff and the staff at Hillcrest Hospital. Everyone was courteous, caring (everything was explained to me in advance) and very professional. Being my first surgery of any kind, I was anxious and concerned. Looking back it was the best surgical experience I could have imagined.
Your modified Shouldice method of repair is matchless. Why every surgeon isn’t using these techniques is a mystery to me. I can’t fathom how anyone in need of a hernia repair would even consider what is referred to as “traditional hernia surgery.”
Sincerely yours,
Jack Zugay
